Target Return Policy & Refunds – Exchanges:

Target Corporation is one of the most philanthropic companies in the US.In November 2005 Forbes article ranked it as the highest cash-giving company in America. And in 2010, It is in the list of in Fortune magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies.

General 90 day Return Policy:

Target accepts the returns of the most unopened items, which are in new condition, within 90 days and this offers refunds only if you have a receipt. If you do not have the original receipt, you may receive a merchandise return card for the refund in store.

There are many exceptions to the 90-Day Policy. Below are the some of the exceptions-

Electronics and entertainment products- returned within 30 days (refund or exchange)
Drones – within 14 days (refund or exchange)

Target does not accept the returns of opened products like Music, movies, video games, and software. But these are not the exception for the exchange with the similar or different gaming platform. And it doesn’t allow the returns for opened or defective collectibles such as sports cards, special edition Barbie dolls, porcelain dolls, action figures, and die-cast cars. Opened airbeds can be exchanged but cannot be returned.

Can I return or exchange an item without a receipt?

For Target.com purchases, you can access or print a copy of your receipt by signing into your Target.com account.

We can also attempt to look up the receipt for your purchase in store. Bring the item, a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license) and the method of payment used to Guest Services within the return window allowed for that item (see Target Return Policy).

The store can look up receipts for purchases made with the following methods of payment:

  • A Target REDcard™ (Target Debit Card™, Target Credit Card™, Target™ Mastercard®)
  • Third-party Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express®, and Discover® credit cards
  • Checks: You must bring a blank check from the same checking account
  • Target GiftCards: You must have the physical Target GiftCard for look-up

If your original receipt isn’t available, you may receive a merchandise return card for your refund in store. Visit the merchandise return cards page for information.

Carrier contract:

The returns of all the items with a carrier contract at a Target store, are accepted within 14 days and results in early termination fees as per the carrier contract.

Return Policy for REDcard users

When customers pay for merchandise using the REDcard, they will receive an extra 30 days to return for all most items. But it has the exceptions on the purchases like mobiles, purchases with a fixed return date, and the items marked as non-returnable.

Target’s New Return Policy

Target’s new return policy extends the general 90-day return policy to one year. But it includes many exceptions.

Gift card Return policy:

You can also return the gift item to a Target store using the receipt and you will get the refund in the form of a Target merchandise return card. But they cannot accept the return on the same day of purchase. You can do it only with the help of original receipt.

Holiday items and limited-time-only collections have modified return policies.

Refund of shipping charges:

Depending on the reason for your Target.com return, you may get the refund.
Reasons for not getting the refund:
  • The online return center may decline the return request.
  • The return is not due to the mistake of Target.
